Church Brick Company
Past To Present
Thomas J. Church, LeRoy Church, Sr., and a few minor investors founded the Church Brick Company in 1916 and incorporated in the State of New Jersey in 1918. The first two brick plants were located in Fieldsboro, New Jersey and in the 1920's a third brick plant was purchased in Maple Shade, NJ. With the onset of the depression and having over three hundred employees on payroll, the company was forced to close one plant in Fieldsboro and the Maple Shade plant.
After World War II, Thomas J. Church passed away and his son LeRoy Church, Sr., became president. In 1954, a new tunnel kiln was built, replacing the outdated periodic kilns that had been in use when the company was founded. In 1961, the company decided to not only manufacture brick, but to also distribute brick for other manufacturers.
In 1970, LeRoy Church Sr., retired and his son LeRoy Church, Jr., took over as president of the company. In 1974, due mainly to strict air pollution laws in New Jersey, the company closed the last remaining plant, but continued to distribute brick for other manufacturers.
In 1996, Kathy C. Koenig, the daughter of LeRoy Church, Jr., became president of the company. In 2001, a second location (Church Brick South, LLC) was opened in Thorofare, New Jersey.
Through the years management has seen that to accommodate our customers needs, we could not just be a brick distributor. We now also distribute concrete products, stone products, landscape products and building supplies for our customers' convenience. We have added to our truck fleet, our sales force and customer service department to make doing business at Church Brick as simple as possible. We continually strive to become the "Premier" masonry supplier in the tri-state area.
The company continues to look toward further expansion of our business and adding other locations to further satisfy the needs of our present and future customers.
